Hello everyone and welcome to Weekly Wanderings, a regular update about what's happening with me and TGR as a whole. These are posted both on my website and mailing list.
Yesterday the world lost author David Drake. Drake was well known in military sci-fi circles but to me he was simply the author of Lord of the Isles. I read Lord of the Isles just as I was getting started on Embers and it was exactly what I needed to set me on my way. It was an epic mediterranean fantasy featuring four rotating heroes with different and unique perspectives (sound familiar?). It’s colorful, exciting, and grand in all the ways fantasy should be. Lord of the Isles deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Lord of the Rings and Wheel of Time, it is genuinely that good. It’s always sad to see great creative minds pass, but they leave their stories with us so that we never forget them and I personally will never forget David Drake.
On a slightly happier note. A friend and reader recently published a website to host his reviews and other content. He is responsible for some of the most thorough Vagabond Legacy reviews I've ever gotten. On his website you can find his review for Spark and Embers. As a thank you for these reviews I offered him a chance to publish the first two chapters of The Cerulean Flare which you can now preview here! Check them out and let me know what you think.
No other major notes this week. Everything's going the best that it can.
All the best,
William Hastings
